Booking terms and conditions

  • Booking process

    All bookings must be made through our booking form. Upon receiving your booking form, we will reserve a place for you. A confirmation email including invoice will then be sent to you. Your place will be held for 14 days and within this time, a £50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance must be paid at least 28 days prior to the start of the trip. If the balance is not paid within this time, you may lose your place.

  • Cancellation procedure

    If you choose to cancel more than 28 days before the event, your payment will be refunded less the deposit. If you cancel 28 days or less before the event, no payment will be returned. In the very unlikely event that we have cancel your trip, then you will be refunded in full. We cannot be held liable for additional costs you may have incurred (eg accommodation, transport).

  • The information you provide

    The information you provide is required for our insurance purposes and to pass to your guide. We will not disclose the information to any other party or use the information for any other purpose.

  • Gear needed

    You will need your general hillwalking gear appropriate to the time of year and conditions (see our Mountain hiking and scrambling gear page for more information). Should you turn up without the appropriate gear, your guide may refuse to take you onto the hills. If you wish to borrow some equipment, let us know in advance, as we do have an extensive list of gear to hire or lend.

  • Fitness and experience

    A level of fitness and experience appropriate for the activity you are taking part in will be required. This will vary depending on the type of event and will be posted on the event page. An outline of our hiking and rock-scrambling grades can be found on our How we grade our events page. You need to let us know if you have any injuries, medical conditions or are taking any medication. Please contact us before booking if you require further clarification.

  • Image rights

    We want you to have a great experience and take away wonderful memories. To help this we'll take some pictures on events and share them primarily through Flickr, other social media channels and our website. If you would prefer not to have your photo taken or your image used, please let us know by unchecking the tick-box on our booking form.   • Risk

    Please note that although you will be guided by a mountain leader or mountain guide with appropriate qualifications, hillwalking can involve a risk of injury. You need to accept an element of risk exists and you are advised to take out appropriate insurance - the MCofS have policies through the BMC, more details here : http://www.mcofs.org.uk/insurance-members.asp. Your leader will assess the group and weather conditions and may make appropriate changes on the day if required. This may involve a change of venue, curtailing a walk in poor weather, or extending your day if conditions and group fitness allow. We reserve the right to withdraw or modify at any time arrangements advertised.

  • The contract, of which this forms part, shall be governed by the law of Scotland.
