why 'compleations' ?
I am frequently asked why this apparent spelling mistake appears unchecked throughout. Well, it's not a spelling mistake !  It's something that seems to be handed down for many years now. Here's how the Scottish Mountaineering Club put it : "the archaic spelling compleation is often used"..."as a nod both to Izaak Walton's book 'The Compleat Angler', and a compliment to another noteworthy sport - Munro-bagging". And once you 'compleat', you're no longer a 'Munro-bagger', but are elevated to 'Munroist' status ! More information can be had at the SMC's website : www.smc.org.uk
