Knoydart guided trip  

Day 1 : Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe in Knoydart
Day 2 : Ladhar Bheinn in Knoydart
Day 3 : Sgurr na Ciche or Ben Aden in the Rough Bounds of Knoydart
Day 4 : Beinn Sgritheall above Arnisdale or other alternatives in the area

Possibly the most beautiful area in Scotland, Knoydart is a peninsula on the west coast opposite Skye. Without road or rail links, this is a remote and rugged area offering tranquillity. The mountains are complex, with Ladhar Bheinn (Larven) dominating the peninsula above high ridges, cliffs and dark coires.

Starting and finishing at the Glenelg Inn, this package takes in some of Scotland's finest scenery while enjoying the comfort of a privately owned former coach-house with superb local Scottish cuisine.

General outline of trip :

Meeting up on the Thursday evening gives us a chance to get to know each other, prepare our kit and plan the days on the hills while in Glenelg Inn's comfortable accommodation.

A boat journey on a fast rib takes us from Glenelg into Knoydart and to Barisdale Bothy - our base for three days. Once we've dropped of our overnight kit, we'll head up the two Munros of Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn with their high-level broad shoulder connection.

Our second day begins with a walk into Coire Dhorrcail to aim up the peninsula's jewel Ladhar Bheinn with its uninterupted views over the Sound of Sleat to Skye and Rum.

We have a third day spare to cope with weather. However, if all goes to plan we can use this day either to relax, add in a Corbett or two, or aim for Sgurr na Ciche on the 'Rough Bounds of Knoydart'.

A boat journey back to Arnisdale on Monday morning and we have the option on the final day of taking a fairly leisurely pace up steep grass covered slopes and scree higher up to gain the Beinn Sgritheall's high ridge and summit with spectacular views over to Kintail and Skye and back over to Knoydart. Alternatively take a stroll up Glean Beag to discover the ancient Glenelg Brochs and find hidden bridges over pools and gorges. The trip is rounded of with an evening meal and overnight accommodation back at the Glenelg Inn

The package includes 2 nights bed and breakfast at Glenelg Inn, and boat transport from Arnisdale to Barisdale. For the three night stay in Barisdale Bothy, you will need some back-packing kit including a sleeping bag and stove - we can help with some of this gear. A list of suggested gear is here. Cost for each person is £350 and the maximum guide to client ratio is 1:6. Cost is based on two sharing a standard room in the Glenelg Inn, there is a single occupancy supplement if required. We may be able to offer pick up from Edinburgh and Perth.
