Day walk up the Lochnagar group of MunrosDays : 1 Max ratio : 1:8 Cost : £50 Dates : 4 June We're up in Royal Deeside for 2 days for the Queen's Jubilee holiday ! On this day we're hillwalking up the circuit of Munros surrounding Loch Muick including Lochnagar and Broad Cairn. Then on the following day, we'll head up the eastern Glenshee peaks, bagging 6 Munros including Glas Maol, Tolmount and Carn an Tuirc - more details of this walk are here. General outline of trip : High above Royal Deeside, Lochnagar looks down into dark corries and deep lochans. This superb high-level circuit takes in 5 Munros, including Broad Cairn, Carn an t-Saigairt Mor and Cairn Bannoch, on one day's hillwalking starting from Loch Muick, a few miles south of Ballater. Beyond Lochnagar and on faint paths in a remote area, we'll hopefully see ptarmigan and other wildlife. Although billed as a day taking in 5 Munros, the pace is not as arduous as it sounds and we'll have plenty time to stop at summit cairns to take in the views.
