Dates : 14-18 July (places available)

Spend four days with us on an introduction to hillwalking and scrambling on some of Skye's finest mountains, ridges and ranges :

Day 1 : The Red Cuillin including Glamaig and Marsco
Day 2 : Trotternish from the Old Man of Storr to the Quiraing
Day 3 : Bruach na Frithe - a Cuillin taster !
Day 4 : Scrambling up Blaven from Loch Slapin

We've aimed this trip at people with a desire to get familiar with Skye before possibly heading onto the spectacular, yet intimidating Cuillin ridge. You'll be guided up some of Skye's most breathtaking mountains as we introduce you to scrambling techniques while exploring some of the island's weird rock formations.

Based at the Waterfront Bunkhouse in Carbost, this package takes in some of Scotland's finest scenery while enjoying the comfort of a fine bunkhouse adjacent to a free house pub set on the shores of Loch Harport.

General outline of trip :

Meeting up on the Saturday at the Waterfront Bunkhouse gives us a chance to get to know each other and discuss our days on the hills. In the evening we have the option of heading out to a ceilidh at the Sligachan Inn - a warm-down for the runners in the famed Glamaig Hillrace.

Our first day's hillwalking starts at Sligachan and sees us aiming up Marsco - a grass covered peak surrounded by rugged hills. Over Beinn Dearg Mheadhonach and Beinn Dearg Mhor, we arrive at Sgurr Mhairi - Glamaig's summit with it's stunning views over water to Applecross and Torridon. A rough descent returns us to Sligachan.

Day 2 sees us heading up to Skye's northern peninsula, Trotternish. We'll take a high-level traverse along a spine of cliffs from the remarkable Old Man of Storr to the mysterious Quiraing .

In the heart of the Cuillin, day 3 takes us up Bruach na Frithe. This is a superb vantage point to see the Cuillin Ridge up close and stretching far distant.

On our final day we'll scramble up Blaven - reckoned to be one of the most beautiful mountains in Scotland. Its unique and distinctive shape leads to the finest view of the Black Cuillin.

The package includes 4 nights bunkhouse accommodation at the Waterfront Bunkhouse and transport to the loction of each hillwalk. Cost for each person is £275 and the maximum guide to client ratio is 1:8. Our next dates are 14-18 July, with another being planned for later in the year. We can help organise your transport to Skye or pick you up from Kyle of Lochalsh station.
