Assynt is a mountainous area in Sutherland in the north-west of Scotland. The highest mountains in this sparsely populated area are Conival and its neighbour Ben More Assnyt, which are linked together by a ridge and both topped with quartzite blocks.

Most people will approach Conival from Inchnadamph to the west following the line of the River Traligill through Gleann Dubh. This is a fine route which continues to Ben More Assynt and also gives the option to extend over the nearby Corbett of Breabag.
