Beinn a’ Chearcaill is a striking Fionahill rising above the southern shores of Loch Maree. Its sprawling grassy plateau is dotted with many lochans, large and small, and rises to three broad summits, while its southern edges are dramatically ringed by sandstone cliffs.

The mountain feels remote and self-contained, standing apart from the Torridon and Flowerdale ranges, yet its summit panorama is among the finest in the northwest Highlands, revealing hidden perspectives on Beinn Alligin, Beinn Eighe, and Beinn Dearg as well as sweeping views across Loch Maree.

The usual ascent starts at Bridge of Grudie above Loch Maree. From here, a path leads towards Coire Briste before striking onto the open slopes. The newer hydro track in the glen is unhelpful for this hill !
