In the Southern Highlands, Beinn a' Chochuill rises above the head of Loch Awe but is largely hidden from view by its neighbour Beinn Eunaich and the higher Cruachan peaks. Its broad grassy slopes lead to a long connecting ridge, where scattered erratic boulders mark the dip between it and Beinn Eunaich. The summit enjoys a fine panorama, with particularly striking views across to the jagged northern cliffs of Ben Cruachan.
The most popular approach starts from Castles Farm near the head of Loch Awe, where estate and hydro tracks provide easy access towards the base of both Beinn Eunaich and Beinn a' Chochuill. From here, clear paths climb the long shoulders, before traversing the grassy connecting ridge between the two Munros. Descent can be made by retracing steps or via alternative lines, while stronger walkers may extend the day by continuing to Stob Daimh and the superb Cruachan Horseshoe.
