Beinn Eunaich is the higher of a fine pair of neighbouring Munros rising above the head of Loch Awe, joined to Beinn a’ Chochuill by a broad connecting ridge. Its long grassy flanks sweep down towards Dalmally, while from its summit there are far-reaching views over Loch Awe. The linking ridge, scattered with erratic boulders, gives an added sense of character to a traverse of the two summits, with the rugged peaks of Ben Cruachan forming a dramatic backdrop.
The standard ascent begins from Castles Farm, near the head of Loch Awe. Estate and hydro tracks give easy initial progress into the glen, before turning uphill on faint but clear paths leading to the broad upper slopes of Beinn Eunaich. From its summit, most walkers continue along the grassy ridge to climb Beinn a’ Chochuill, with the scattered erratics marking the dip between the two Munros. Stronger parties may extend the day by traversing towards Stob Daimh and the classic Cruachan Horseshoe.
