Beinn Sgulaird rises above Loch Creran at the head of Appin, its many peaks guarding the approaches to Glencoe and the lands beyond Benderloch.

As all nearby roads are not much higher than sea-level, taking any route up Beinn Sgulaird will require a fair bit of effort. But once higher up, the reward is obvious - stunning views all round, particularly westwards towards Mull, Jura and beyond.
The finest hiking route up Beinn Sgulaird approaches from the west and takes in minor summits including Meall Garbh. This is not the shortest approach, but the effort is rewarded with superb views along the route. The nearby Corbett summit of Creach Bheinn can easily be tagged on to this route.
If aiming only for Beinn Sgulaird's summit, an alternative and more direct approach heads up from Glenure Farm.
For the keen and very fit, or for a two-day back-packing expedition, Beinn Sgulaird can be combined with Sgòr na h-Ulaidh and Beinn Fhionnlaidh aiming in from Glen Etive.
