On the eastern fringes of the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, Ben Aden is a rough and craggy peak standing alone in a very remote setting.

Regardless of direction, reaching Ben Aden is going to require a fair bit of effort and planning. Once at the base of the mountain, finding a route to the summit will test navigation skills, particularly if using OS maps of Ben Aden as these are missing many contour lines of the higher and complex ground.

The public road that gets closest to Ben Aden is the narrow single-track running along the northern shore of Loch Quoich, from where a 12km hike, in part following the old track used for the construction of the dams on the loch, leads up the north-east of the mountain.

To the south of Ben Aden is Sourlies Bothy at the head of Loch Nevis. This is a fine base for hillwalking in the Rough Bounds of Knoydart and from here a much shorter route heading up Ben Aden can be found initially following the River Carnach.
