Arriving in Glen Clova, Ben Tirran is the mountain that dominates the view ahead. A grass-covered hill, the highest point on Ben Tirran's flat summit, 'The Goet', overlooks Loch Wharral, where a wooden bothy (now closed) stands at its outflow.
A direct up-and-down Ben Tirran can be done quite quickly, but really doesn't do the landscapes above Glen Clova justice.
A more interesting and satisfying hike is on a circular route from Glen Clova, heading to the ground above the crags surrounding hidden Loch Brandy and Loch Wharral.
