On the southern fringes of the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, Bidein a' Chabair, along with its neighbour Sgùrr na h-Aide, form the highest part of the Druim Coire nan Laogh ridge which extends westwards from Glen Dessarry and ends standing above Loch Nevis and Loch Morar.
In such a remote setting and with no roads in the vicinity, the most well placed point to begin a journey to Bidein a' Chabair is from the end of the public road by the western end of Loch Arkaig. From there, forestry and estate roads travel through Glen Dessarry to reach the eastern foot of Druim Coire nan Laogh, thereafter a hike along a rugged and undulating crest gains the final scramble up to Bidein a' Chabair's summit.
With careful route choice, Bidein a' Chabair can also be approached from Gleann an Lochain Eanaiche to the south - useful if intending to bag Bidein a' Chabair along with its neighbouring Corbett, Càrn Mòr.
