East of Tweedsmuir in the Southern Uplands, the long wide shoulders of Broad Law stretch north to south, with side spurs linking to more high ground and onwards to Dollar Law. On the hill's summit stand three masts, a circular beacon station and a trig point.

Taken on its own, a hike up Broad Law is straightforward, with less than 400m of ascent if starting from the bealach between Talla and Megget reservoirs.

Combining Broad Law with some nearby hills makes for a more interesting experience. Following fencelines for along hill crests, navigation is fairly straightforward.
