Buidhe Bheinn is a rugged hill towering above Kinloch Hourn and connected to the South Glen Shiel Ridge via a spur extending northwards from its summit towards Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais.
On OS maps, Buidhe Bheinn's summit previously didn't have a spot height and the hill therefore wasn't included in the list of Corbetts. Subsequently Buidhe Bheinn was given a height of 885m, the same height as nearby Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais, and both peaks were then included in the list of Corbetts, even though the drop between these two peaks was less than 150m. With recent re-measurement confirming Buidhe Bheinn to be fractionally higher than Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais, this anomally was corrected with Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais being removed from the list of Corbetts.
There are two main approaches to Buidhe Bheinn, the shortest of which is a 2km detour from Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais on the South Glen Shiel Ridge, following a wall for much of the way. However a longer and more enjoyable route can be taken following stalkers paths up from Kinloch Hourn, the extra effort of this being rewarded with stunning views along the length of Loch Hourn towards Ladhar Bheinn in Knoydart.
