Cam Chreag, Strath Fillan

Standing above the heads of Glen Lochay, Glen Lyon and several smaller glens, Cam Chreag is an intriguing hill whose summit rises to little short of Munro height. Hidden from most roadside viewpoints, the hill is only briefly glimpsed from lower down in Glen Lochay, with its structure becoming more apparent from surrounding higher ground.

Cam Chreag is formed around a long north-west to south-east aligned shoulder, its north-east flank lined with crags and steep ground. Away from these steeper slopes, Cam Chreag is largely composed of broad grassy terrain. A drop of a little over 150m to the bealach beneath Stob nan Clach on Creag Mhor gives Cam Chreag just enough prominence to qualify as a Corbett.

The hill is unlikely to be climbed on its own and instead is more naturally combined with neighbouring peaks. Cam Chreag is one of five Corbetts north-east of Tyndrum that can be linked in a fine circuit from Glen Coralan. It also fits well into outings with the higher Munros surrounding Glen Lochay, including an epic circuit taking in all five Munros around the head of the glen.
