The boulder and stone covered summit of Càrn Bhac contrasts with the rolling heather and grass covered slopes of this Munro south-west of Braemar.
The easiest and most direct approach up Càrn Bhac begins by a cycle down Glen Ey and hike up Càrn nan Seileach. However, instead continue cycling further down Glen Ey to the ruins of Altanour Lodge from where Càrn Bhac can be included in a fine circular route that also takes in the Munros of Beinn Iutharn Mhòr and Càrn an Rìgh.
