Stretching from Loch Arkaig westwards to Loch Morar, the long ridge of Càrn Mòr and its minor summits overlook Glen Pean to the south and Glen Dessarry to the north.

Càrn Mòr is most likely to be approached from the western end of Loch Arkaig with a choice of hiking or biking to the lower slopes of the mountain up the forestry roads in either Glen Dessarry or Glen Pean.

After a cycle up Glen Dessarry, I've starting on foot from A' Chùil Bothy in winter and from the end of the track in summer - both of these take the form of a gentle incline up long grass-covered ridges and crests. The Glen Pean approach is also up grass, but looks to me to be much steeper.
