Càrn nan Tri-tighearnan rises as the highest height of land in the wide, heather-clad moors east of Inverness. From the summit, crowned by a trig point, fine views open out across the rolling Monadhliath to the west and south, with the wooded straths of Moy and Drynachan stretching away below.
The easiest approach starts from Moy, where estate and wind-farm tracks rise gradually towards the moorland plateau, bringing walkers to within just over a kilometre of Càrn nan Tri-tighearnan's summit for a straightforward final hike following fence-lines. A quieter and more remote alternative begins from Drynachan Lodge.
