In the Ladder Hills, Cooks Cairn is the highest point on rolling high ground stretching south-west to north-east above Glen Fiddich and Glen Livet. The hill's heather-clad summit crowned by a modest pile of boulders.
Cook's Cairn used to be a Corbett until re-measurement removed it from the list by the mid-90's.
As Cook's Cairn's lower east-facing slopes are now ringed by windfarms, the approach from Glenlivet is preferred - a clear estate track leads steadily towards Glen Suie and the foot of Cook's Cairn. Other approaches with estate and wind-farms tracks are possible from the Cabrach to the east and from Glen Fiddich to the north-east.
