Creag a' Mhàim, the easternmost Munro on the South Glen Shiel Ridge, boasts a summit overlooking the headwaters of Loch Cluanie and Loch Loyne. A rugged mountain, especially along its northern slopes, it shares the scenic Coire nan Leac with neighbouring Druim Shionnach - a hollow where the calls of deer resonate loudly each autumn.
Most hillwalkers will tend to hike up Creag a' Mhàim when traversing the South Glen Shiel Ridge in full or on its easterly section from the old road that heads from the Cluanie Inn towards Loch Loyne. There is a fine stalker's path aiming up its eastern shoulder, though a direct route up its northern shoulder will cut out around 2km.
