Creag Liath is a small, steep-sided hill covered in heather, situated in the Monadh Liath. It comes into view during a hike along Glen Banchor and offers fine summit views - notably the crags of Carn Dearg and the north-facing silhouette of Creag Dubh on the opposite side of the glen.
Creag Liath can be climbed on its own or as part of a route to Carn Dearg. The ascent follows grassy lines through its otherwise craggy and heather-clad eastern face, while the descent can be an enjoyable run down its grass-covered northern crest.

Carn Dearg is one of the more interesting hills in the vast Monadh Liath moorland north of Strathspey. Heading in from Glen Banchor not only you will experience its interesting features along with discovering shades of previous habitations in the glens, but there is also the option to bag the little hill of Creag Liath on the way.
