At just above Munro height, Creag nan Damh is the most westerly peak on the South Glen Shiel Ridge. Although surrounded by higher peaks, westward views from the summit are rather fine, particulary towards the Forcan Ridge, out to Knoydart and glimpses of Skye.
The most direct route begins near the site of the 1719 Battle of Glen Shiel, following a stalkers' path to the mountain's base before ascending its northeastern shoulder to the summit. A gentler, more navigable route starts further down Glen Shiel, following another stalkers' path to a col west of Creag nan Damh, where an old wall and line of iron posts guide the final approach.
