Druim Shionnach, part of the eastern South Glen Shiel Ridge, is a complex mountain with two summits: the Munro summit and a western Munro Top. The western top rises above north-facing cliffs and a vast grass-covered plain to the south. A sharp ridge links the two summits, while an even narrower ridge extends eastward towards Creag a' Mhaim. Druim Shionnach shares the bouldery Coire nan Leac with Creag a' Mhaim, where the calls of deer echo each autumn.
Most hillwalkers climb Druim Shionnach while traversing the South Glen Shiel Ridge, either in full or on its eastern half from the old road between the Cluanie Inn and Loch Loyne. A stalkers' path leads partway up Druim Shionnach's northern shoulder, offering a shorter route that includes its neighbour, Creag a' Mhaim.
