Faochaig is central Corbett peak in Killilan Forest, sharing a broad grass-covered plateau with its neighbour Càrn nan Searach. These summits stand above several rugged corries in all directions bar a south-facing slope, which is grass-covered and drops to Srath Duilleach at the head of Glen Elchaig.
Bagged on its own, there are various approaches to Faochaig where a bike would be useful including a track from Glen Ling to the north getting to within 2km of the summit and another from Carnach in Srath Duilleach to the south reaching higher and slightly closer.
With Faochaig being the middle of three Corbetts, possibly the finest route is a traverse of all three peaks. The approach along Glen Elchaig and Srath Duilleach is lovely and the connecting ridges make for a superb hike or hillrun.
