Unlike it's Corbett neighbour Mam na Gualainn which stands in a solitary position above the opposite shore of Loch Leven, Garbh Bheinn is hemmed in by the Aonach Eagach ridge and the Mamores. Much of the view from Garbh Bheinn's summit are of close up aspects of these ranges, however the view eastwards from the summit over Rannoch Moor to Schiehallion is wonderful.
If you're looking for a fine summer evening's stroll or a short winter's daylight ramble, then the direct route up Garbh Bheinn from Caolasnacon on Loch Leven's southern shore is a fine choice.
This enjoyable route is in two contrasting parts - beginning with a wet mucky trudge for the first 400m of ascent followed by a loose path on gravel, scree and through boulders thereafter.
Extending this route southwards to aim for Meall Dearg on the Aonach Eagach would allow for this Munro peak to be bagged without encountering any technical rock-scrambling terrain.
