Glas-bheinn Mhòr is a broad, grassy hill rising gently amidst undulating moorland west of Loch Ness. Overshadowed and largely hidden by its more prominent neighbour, Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, it remains quiet and seldom visited. While lacking in distinctive character, its summit offers a peaceful vantage point with wide views across a landscape of lochans, heather, and open slopes.
Glas-bheinn Mhòr is most often reached in combination with Meall Fuar-mhonaidh, making for a rewarding and quieter circuit. The usual approach begins from Grotaig via the eroded but well-used path to Meall Fuar-mhonaidh's summit. From there, a route continues west across open, grassy moorland, passing lochans and minor humps before a short climb leads to Glas-bheinn Mhòr's summit.
An alternative, less-travelled approach can be made from the hydro tracks at Alltsigh, but access and route-finding over rough ground make this a less popular choice.
