Stob Coire an Laoigh is a rough mountain covered in quartzite blocks and is the second-highest Munro peak in the Grey Corries, sitting in the middle of the range around halfway between Sgurr Choinnich Mor and Stob Choire Claurigh.

Stob Coire an Laoigh is one of 4 Munro summits in the Grey Corries range and sits in the middle of the ridge around halfway between Stob Choire Claurigh and Sgurr Choinnich Mor.

There are three spurs to Stob Coire an Laoigh - the eastern one links towards Stob Choire Claurigh, the south-east spur drops down steeply to the Allt Coire Rath and Glen Nevis and the western spur connects to Stob Coire Easain and further along the Grey Coires ridge.

Being in the middle of the Grey Corries, Stob Coire an Laoigh is best bagged with other peaks in the range to enjoy some superb mouontain-ridge walking on high ground obove crags and corries.

Grey Corries from Corriechoille

The 'Grey Corries' is the name given to the superb range mountains to the east of Ben Nevis and the Lochaber 4000ers. The Grey Corries are probably seen at their finest from above Spean Bridge with the quartzite rock shimmering in sunshine and framed with the Commando Memorial in the foreground.

Ben Nevis, Lochaber 4000s and Grey Corries hiking route

Combining Ben Nevis, the Lochaber 4000s and the Grey Corries into one route makes for a long fairly challenging route hiking on vast plateaux and narrow ridges while taking in vast views. Ideal preparation (and recci) for a Tranter Round or longer Ramsay Round !
