Rising prominently above the head of Glen Sligachan, Marsco is one of the most eye-catching peaks in Skye’s Red Cuillin. With its sweeping grassy flanks and dramatic east-facing cliffs, Marsco stands apart from the jagged Black Cuillin. Its summit, at 736m, provides a sensational panorama over both the Red and Black Cuillin ridges.
Unlike its neighbouring hills, Marsco is less cloaked in scree, making the climb slightly less punishing—though still a steep and unrelenting pull. The final approach narrows onto an airy ridge, lending a touch of drama to an otherwise straightforward hillwalk.
A fine way to hike up Marsco is to combine it with the other Red Cuillin peaks of Beinn Dearg Mhòr and Glamaig. This circular route gives a rugged traverse that involves some tough ascents, scree slopes, and occasional pathless sections—best suited to confident hillwalkers with strong navigation skills.
