Meall Blàir stands roughly midway along the northern side of Loch Arkaig, forming part of the long chain of Corbett and Graham hills that rises between the loch and Glen Kingie. Among these summits, Meall Blàir is the lowest.
Meall Blàir's upper crest is wide and undulating, containing a few minor summits. The highest point lies at its eastern end marked by a trig point. North of the crest, the terrain falls away steeply before easing above the forests and lower ground of Glen Kingie.
To the east of Meall Blair's summit, the terrain descends gently over a lochan-pitted shoulder to a broad bealach at around 450m before rising towards Sgùrr Choinnich. To the west, the ground falls more steeply towards Loch Blàir, which stands at a height of just over 300m.
Although Meall Blàir lacks the dramatic profile of its neighbouring mountains, it is far from a dreary hill. The summit commands excellent views to the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, while northwards the mountains surrounding Glen Quoich form an impressive skyline.
The hill could be approached from the forests in Glen Kingie. A far simpler and shorter route however begins from the shores of Loch Arkaig, where a hydro track climbs from the roadside to a small dam at the outlet of Loch Blàir, leaving around 2km of pathless hillside and just over 300m of ascent to reach the summit.
