Above the quiet glen of Strathconon, Meall na Faochaig is the grassy and heather-clad high point of a long undulating shoulder that runs southeast between Gleann Meinich and Loch Beannacharain.
The simplest ascent begins from Inverchoran at the head of Strathconon, where a faint old stalkers’ track climbs directly up the southern slopes around halfway to the summit. A longer round is possible, but rather rough, linking the hill with the Corbetts Meallan nan Uan and Sgùrr a’ Mhuilinn over pathless terrain. A more natural extension is to include nearby Beinn Mheadhoin to the south, with both hills starting from the same approach at Inverchoran.
