Meall nan Eagan is a modest Fiona hill tucked behind its higher neighbour The Fara, and mostly hidden from roadside view. Its slopes are largely heather-clad and sits amid striking scenery, flanked by the rocky clefts of Dirc Bheag and Dirc Mhòr.
The most straightforward ascent begins just outside Dalwhinnie on the old military road (A889), where an estate track follows the Allt an t-Sluic westwards to the hill’s base. From there, a pathless but uncomplicated climb leads to the summit. The route can be extended to include The Fara, with added interest from passing between the dramatic glacial clefts of Dirc Bheag and Dirc Mhòr, which frame the rocky nose of Creag nan Adhaircean.
