Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill is the highest point of a complex ridge system in the Reay Forest of Sutherland. This rugged Corbett rises above corries and small lochans, with its most impressive feature being the dramatic hidden coire that cuts into its north-eastern face. Remote, scenic and with a name that rolls beautifully off the tongue, it is a distinctive peak in the far north.

The most straightforward approach begins from above the southern end of Loch More, where estate tracks provide an easy start before giving way to pathless slopes leading up the mountain’s southern side. From the summit, a fine extension continues over Sabhal Beag to Meall Horn, making for a delightful route through varied terrain in the remote Reay Forest.
