Sgòr Mòr is a modest yet distinctive Corbett west of Braemar, standing above the upper reaches of the River Dee and overlooking the Linn of Dee. Its rocky little summit protrudes from an otherwise heather-clad expanse, fringed by remnants of ancient Caledonian pinewoods.
Sgòr Mòr is most often climbed as a short detour from routes to the larger Cairngorm Munros. Tracks and estate paths surround the hill, but on the upper slopes any trods soon fade into heather and tundra.
