On a long ridge stretching between Glen Uig and the western end of Loch Monar, Sgùrr a' Chaorachain sits between the Munro Sgùrr Chòinnich and the Munro Top Bidean an Eòin Deirg.

The most straightforward route to Sgùrr a' Chaorachain begins at Craig in Glen Carron and follows an estate track through Glen Uig to the foot of the mountain. Thereafter a hike on a circular route following crests and rims of corries heads up Sgùrr Chòinnich and over to Sgùrr a' Chaorachain before returning to Glen Uig.
