Along with its eastern subsiduary peak of Druim a' Chuirn, the mountain forms a circular ridge around Coire Chicheanais. When viewed from Glen Dessarry, halfway along the ridge there appears what seems to be a rather strange obelisk - turns out just to be some shattered rock !
As an outlier to the Sgurr na Ciche to Sgurr Mor chain of peaks, Sgurr Cos na Breachd-laoidh can be climbed as a short and steep there-and-back detour from around halfway along this route.
Sgurr Cos na Breachd-laoidh can also be climbed directly from Glen Dessarry taking a route up its grass-covered south-eastern shoulder. This route can be extended to take in Sgurr Cos na Breachd-laoidh's neighbouring Corbetts of Fraoch Bheinn and Sgurr Mhurlagain.
