Sgùrr na Lapaich is the highest peak on the ridge of four Munros north of Loch Mullardoch. Its complex shape is defined by four long spurs radiating from the summit, enclosing corries, three of which cradle small lochans. The rocky summit commands magnificent views, with the northward sweep dominated by Lurg Mhòr rising above Loch Monar, while Mullardoch and the peaks of Affric stretch out to the south.
Sgùrr na Lapaich is usually climbed as part of the demanding northern Mullardoch circuit, which also takes in Càrn nan Gobhar, An Riabhachan and An Socach. The traverse is most logically done west-to-east, using the Loch Mullardoch ferry to reach An Socach before crossing the ridge eastwards and returning to the dam. For strong parties, the mountain can also be included in the Mullardoch Round, an epic challenge linking all twelve Munros around the loch — a single day for runners, or a two-day expedition for backpacking hillwalkers.
