Just outwith the southern fringes of the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, Sgurr nan Coireachan is the westerly of two Munro summits standing on undulating crests of the high ground above Glen Pean.

The easiest approach begins by the visitor centre in Glenfinnan, from where a tarred road heads northwards through Glen Finnan for 4km. Beyond this, decent paths head up grass-covered slopes onto the southern shoulder of Sgurr nan Coireachan where crests topped with a line of fence-posts are followed to Sgurr Thuilm and around the Corryhully Horseshoe.

A fine alternative and much less trodded route begins by Strathan at the western end of Loch Arkaig, from where forestry tracks lead into Glen Pean. Grass-covered rugged mountain shoulders lead directly up from the River Pean to the Munro peaks of Sgurr Thuilm and Sgurr nan Coireachan. With a couple of significant river crossings needed, this route shouldn't be attempted if river levels are high.
