Towards the western end of Loch Cuaich (previously Loch Quoich), a long undulating high-level ridge reaches towards the eastern end of Loch Hourn. On this ridge there are several peaks, of which Sgurr nan Eugallt is the highest.
The easiest and more direct line to Sgurr nan Eugallt begins from the ruin of Coireshubh above the head of Loch Hourn, from where a short hike up an old stalker's path leads onto Sgurr nan Eugallt's north-east ridge. Thereafter a line of old iron fence-posts is followed to within a short distance of the mountain's summit.
