The long heather and grass covered 'whale back' shape of Càrn a' Choire Ghairbh sits in a fairly remote setting above woodlands of Glen Affic and Glen Moriston.
Along with neighbouring Corbett, Aonach Shasuinn, Càrn a' Choire Ghairbh can be hiked over on a fine circular route beginning from the end of the public road in Glen Affric.
Alternatively, a more challenging and slightly longer circuit on these two Corbetts heads in from Glen Moriston, adding in the Munro peaks of Sàil Chaorainn, Sgùrr nan Conbhairean and Càrn Ghluasaid on route.
