Website Terms, Copyright and Disclaimer
This website is maintained to share walking routes, mapping, photographs, and hill data from years of experience in the Scottish hills. The content is provided in good faith and intended as a helpful resource for outdoor enthusiasts. Please take a moment to read the following terms, which govern the use of this website and its materials. What This Website Is (and Isn’t)
This website is a personal record of the routes I’ve taken while walking, running or cycling over Scotland’s hills and mountains. It’s intended to share experiences, give ideas for planning days out, and hopefully encourage others to explore the outdoors for themselves.
All of the routes described here are hill- and mountain-based. Some include short sections of rock scrambling, for which a grade is mentioned. These grades follow the system widely used by hillwalkers and climbers, and clear definitions can be found through the British Mountaineering Council.
I don’t include details about personal kit, food or specialist equipment on the individual route pages — every walker’s needs, experience and comfort levels differ. Anyone heading into the hills must take responsibility for their own preparation, equipment and safety.
If you’re looking for clear guidance on skills, safety and good practice, excellent resources include Mountaineering Scotland, Mountain Training, and the many publications of the Scottish Mountaineering Club and Scottish Mountaineering Trust. If you’re looking for a qualified guide, have a look at the Mountain Guides page — I’ve worked with these experienced mountain guides in the past.
Although every effort is made to keep route details accurate and current, terrain, paths, access and weather conditions change constantly. Always check up-to-date maps and forecasts before setting out.
Disclaimer, Accuracy and Amendments
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided on this website is accurate and current. However, all content is offered on an “as-is” basis, without any warranties — express or implied — regarding completeness, reliability, accuracy, or suitability.
Hillwalking, scrambling and mountaineering are inherently risky activities. Weather conditions, erosion, navigation errors and individual ability can all affect safety. Users of this website are responsible for their own actions and decisions. No liability is accepted for any injury, loss or damage arising from the use of information on this website.
Route descriptions, route maps, timing estimates and GPX files are for general guidance only and should not be relied upon as your sole means of navigation. You should always carry, and know how to use, a paper map, compass and appropriate safety equipment — and consult other trusted sources before heading into the hills.
Time estimates assume a walking pace of about 4 km/h on flat ground, with an additional allowance of 600 m of ascent per hour. Actual times will vary depending on fitness, experience, terrain and weather or navigation conditions.

Content Origins and Use of GPX Files
All route descriptions are my own, and photos are too - unless otherwise credited.
Bibliography and Data Sources:
Hill heights, grid references, latitude/longitude, and prominence figures come from the Database of British and Irish Hills. Translations of hill names are drawn from the Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) - especially Scottish Hill and Mountain Names by Peter Drummond - and SMC's Munro, Corbett and Grahams publications. Maps are created using Ordnance Survey data and API (with Esri for aerial imagery), and where possible are cross-referenced with Harvey Maps.
GPX Downloads:
Most GPX files originate from personal GPS recordings; they are then edited to remove anomalies and reduce waypoint clutter. Some older files were generated using Memory Map software and will gradually be replaced by newer GPS data. Be aware that all GPS devices have a margin of error, which may be reflected both in these files and during your own use.
