Website Terms, Copyright and Disclaimer
This website is maintained to share walking routes, mapping, photographs, and hill data from years of experience in the Scottish hills. The content is provided in good faith and intended as a helpful resource for outdoor enthusiasts. Please take a moment to read the following terms, which govern the use of this website and its materials. What This Website Is (and Isn’t)
This website is really just my own record of hill routes and scrambles I’ve enjoyed over the years, put together in the hope it helps and inspires others on their own hillwalking journeys. However, it’s not a complete list of hillwalking routes nor is a “how-to” guide to the outdoors. You won’t find advice here on what clothing or kit to take, how to build your navigation skills, camping or bothy use, land access and stalking matters, or dealing with the often wild mountain weather.
All of the routes here are hill and mountain based — low-level walks are not covered here. If that’s what you’re after, Walk Highlands is a fantastic place to look. Some of the routes also involve sections of rock scrambling, with the grading mentioned. These grades are widely used by hillwalkers and climbers, and if you’re unfamiliar with them you’ll find clear definitions through the British Mountaineering Council.
If you’re looking for solid guidance on skills, safety and good practice, some excellent places to turn are Mountaineering Scotland, Mountain Training, and the many brilliant publications of the Scottish Mountaineering Club and Scottish Mountaineering Trust.

Hillwalking, scrambling, and mountaineering are inherently risky activities. Weather conditions, ground erosion, navigation errors, and individual ability can significantly affect safety. Route descriptions, timings, and GPX files are guides only and must not be relied upon as your sole means of navigation. It is strongly recommended to carry and know how to use a map, compass, and other safety equipment, and to consult other trusted sources before venturing into the mountains. Everyone heading out to the hills needs to take responsibility for their own preparation and decisions !

Content Origins and Use of GPX Files
All route descriptions are my own, and photos are too - unless otherwise credited. You can find more background on the homepage.
Bibliography and Data Sources:
Hill heights, grid references, latitude/longitude, and prominence figures come from the Database of British and Irish Hills. Translations of hill names are drawn from the Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) - especially Scottish Hill and Mountain Names by Peter Drummond - and SMC's Munro, Corbett and Grahams publications. Maps are created using Ordnance Survey data and where possible are cross-referenced with Harvey Maps.
GPX Downloads:
Most GPX files are derived from personal GPS recordings, then edited to clean up anomalies and reduce waypoint clutter. Some older files were generated using Memory Map software and will gradually be replaced by newer GPS data. Be aware that all GPS devices have a margin of error, which may be reflected both in these files and during your own use.
Time estimates:
Time estimates for routes are based on a walking pace of approximately 4 km/h on flat ground, with an additional allowance of 600m of ascent per hour. These are intended as general guides only. Your actual pace may vary depending on your fitness, experience, and conditions on the day. Terrain, weather, navigation challenges and other factors can all significantly affect how long a route will take.
