Beinn Resipol, a striking Corbett in the heart of Sunart, rises prominently above the southern shores of Loch Shiel. Standing in an isolated position, this fine peak rewards hillwalkers with stunning 360-degree panoramic views from its rocky summit on clear days.
A well-constructed track begins near Strontian, passing through farmland before ascending to a height where a direct route follows the eastern shoulder to the summit.
For a varied descent, if transport can be arranged to avoid a walk back along the road, a descent northwards can be made through forestry to Polloch, located close to Loch Shiel's southern shores.
In 2015, the inaugural Beinn Resipol hill race took place. Taking place in September and starting from the campsite at Resipole on the northern shores of Loch Sunart, this race follows estate tracks and paths for most of the way to Beinn Resipol's summit, with the fastest runners completing the route in just over an hour.
