Sitting in the heart of the Mamores, Stob Coire a' Chairn is a rugged Munro peak. What it lacks in drama compared to other nearby mountains in the range, it makes up for in views from the summit - Am Bodach, Na Gruagaichean and Sgurr a'Mhaim with its Devil's Ridge are all well displayed.
The most direct line of ascent up Stob Coire a'Chairn starts from Kinlochleven or Mamore Lodge and follows a stalkers path up to the bealach between Stob Coire a'Chairn and Na Gruagaichean.
Because of the mountain's proximity to other Munro peaks, most people will opt to include other summits. The finest route taking in Stob Coire a'Chairn is the famed 'Ring of Steall', a classic ridge traverse in the centre of the Mamores range - a fabulous hillwalking route !
For fit hikers and hill-runners, here is also the option of bagging Stob Coire a'Chairn as part of a complete Mamores traverse (or even a longer Tranter's Round or Ramsay's Round).
