Above the western shores of Loch Linnhe, Garbh Bheinn is probably regarded as the finest mountain in Ardgour, with impressive cliffs and buttresses dropping down to Coire an Iubhair below.
Although Garbh Bheinn's east facing cliffs are famed for climbing routes, hillwalkers can bag the summit relatively easily. The most direct route begins due south of the summit in Glen Tarbert with only a distance of 2km from the roadside to the top.
A far more enjoyable hiking route also starts from Glen Tarbert, but south-east of the summit at the foot of Coire an Iubhair. From here, a circular route follows the crests of wide ridges and travels over the rough summits of Sgorr Mhic Eacharna and Beinn Bheag before scrambling up Garbh Bheinn.
