Meall Garbh consists of a wide summit crest with a few summit humps, the most northerly of which is the highest and has old iron fence-posts gathered together around a cairn on the summit.

Being close to higher Càrn Gorm, most people will bag Meall Garbh with this peak, possibly continuing further over the other more easterly Munros above Glen Lyon. Approaching from the south leads through North Chesthill Estate, which for many years has been the focus of access issues.
