The long, undulating ridge of the Hills of Cromdale overlooks Speyside to the west and Strath Avon to the east. At the southern end of the range, Creagan a' Chaise is the highest summit. The peak is marked by a trig point and a large cairn, built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. On clear days, the summit offers expansive views of the Cairngorms.

The Hills of Cromdale can be climbed from Strathspey or Strath Avon. Once up onto the broad ridge, navigation is quite straightforward following a fence-line for the most part.
