The expanse of Geal-chàrn's wide summit plateau is surrounded by heather-clad slopes. A small group of cairns sits at the eastern end of this plateau overlooking Drumochter Pass below.

With the lowest point in the range being 730m, it makes sense to include Geal-chàrn in a day Munro-bagging with A' Mharconaich, Beinn Udlamain, Sgàirneach Mhòr and the Corbett, The Sow of Atholl.

Heading up Geal-chàrn from Balsporran is a soggy affair on a well defined path, but higher up terrain is a delight underfoot with most of the route following tracks, paths and fence-posts. Geal-chàrn and the other Munros in this group all have different characters and afford good views over Loch Ericht to the Ben Alder range and beyond.
