East of Skye and north of Knoydart, the Glen Elg peninsula contains several hills, with Beinn Sgritheall being the highest and only Munro. A complex mountain with intricate corries on its northern aspects contrasting with the steep regular slopes on its southern face that sweep directly up from the village of Arnisdale towards a crest covered in scree.

The shattered remains of a trig point stand on Beinn Sgritheall's summit, from where views in clear conditions are superb, particularly to the isles of Skye, Rum and beyond.

The most popular hillwalking up Beinn Sgritheall begins from the western end of Arnisdale following a soggy path up onto the mountain's scree covered crest. This route can be continued westwards to descend through a wild woodland or extended eastwards over Bealach Arnasdail to bag the nearby Corbett summits of Beinn na h-Eaglaise and Beinn nan Caorach.

Beinn Sgritheall can also be approached from Gleann Beag to the north, passing the remains of ancient brochs and heading up the Graham hill of Beinn a' Chapuill with its many lochans.
