Pykestone Hill, named for the many pointed stones that jut from its grassy crest, is a classic rolling hill of the Borders. It rises to the south-west of Peebles, overlooking the farmland and forested slopes of Glenrath.
Pykestone Hill, along with its neighbouring minor tops and nearby Middle Hill can be approached from Tweedsmuir to the west or Glenrath to the east. From either direction, route finding along these hills is straightward following fenceline crossing the hills' crest.
