Sgùrr Dubh Mòr sits just off the main Cuillin Ridge and although not the highest peak in the range, it stands out for its narrow, exposed summit and dramatic setting.

Most walkers reach it via Sgurr an Dà Bheinn after hiking through scenic Coir' a' Ghrunnda from Glenbrittle, often combining it with a scramble to nearby Sgùrr nan Eag. The final approach to Sgùrr Dubh Mòr's summit requires a serious Grade 2 scramble up ledges - or Grade 3 if taken directly - demanding good route-finding and a head for heights.
